AS SOLID AS OUR REPUTATION, OUR STRUCTURAL CONCRETE SERVICES ARE THE BRIGHT CHOICE.

Concrete is the fundamental material from which the buildings and structures of our world are created.  There are few projects in the construction world that come to take shape without it.

HMI self-performs structural concrete work on sophisticated projects ranging from schools to showroom floors, to retaining walls, commercial buildings and more.  Our crew's precision work, absolute attention to quality and detail, and our commitment to performing to meet important deadlines and project specifications makes HMI a valued partner in construction projects locally and nationwide.

FOOTINGS Concrete footings exist to transfer the structural loads from the building (snow load, live load, dead load, wind load, earthquake load, etc.) to the Earth. Obviously, the foundations on a building are critical from a structural standpoint.
RETAINING WALLS Prized for their strength and versatility, concrete retaining walls require precise construction methods. With this high level of technicality comes incredible versatility. Poured concrete retaining walls can be colored, textured, accented with embedded objects and much more. When installed properly, concrete offers much more room for customization than any other retaining wall material. Our projects often involve multiple walls, ranging in heights to more than 20 feet. Recent projects completed were the at the Lester Park Elementary School and the slopes of Lake Superior on Congdon Blvd in Duluth, Minnesota.
FOUNDATIONS The footprint of your building is defined by its foundation. This is typically a combination of concrete footings, which bear the bulk a home's structural weight, and concrete walls. Pouring a foundation correctly is critical because it holds your entire building steady and secure over time. HMI’s techniques and quality secures your project’s foundation for years to come.
FLATWORK Flatwork includes all concrete work located along a horizontal plane. This includes indoors projects like floors or concrete stairs, as well as outdoor elements like patios, sidewalks, and driveways. Concrete flatwork may also include repair or maintenance work to fix existing concrete surfaces.
LASER SCREED: For Precision & Quality

HMI utilizes the latest technology with the Somero S485 Laser Screed system.  Why use laser screed?  Screeding concrete has come a long way from the basic 2x4.  Laser screed has set new standards for accuracy and productivity.  Our screed uses lasers to identify and place concrete automatically to specified elevations.  The laser screed also combines both placement and strike off in a single step with heads that incorporate plow, auger, and vibrator, enabling it to spread fresh concrete and set it precisely in a single pass.

The laser screed allows our crews to work faster and flatter without the need for rakers.  It allows our crews to screed in any direction and screeds on elevated slabs or on grade.  It is 3D capable for contour paving as well.
